The Global learning initiative is a group of individuals in the United States, Europe and Canada who are active in promoting literacy. Many immigrants to these countries sometimes come with no knowledge of the local language. As a result it is hard to assimilate into the western country and these individuals are usually separated. With the lack of assimilation, minority voices cannot be heard making it difficult for a democratic society to function. A functioning democratic society relies upon its individuals’ voices in order to create and pass laws.
It is this reason that the Global Learning Initiative was formed. Our posts will be mainly about literacy related issues and computer literacy in relation to western languages.
